Knowledge Brief: Basic Profile of Child Marriage in Pakistan
The 2016 knowledge brief prepared by the World Bank Group and ICRW has found that child marriage is associated with lower wealth, lower education levels, and higher labor force participation. The study indicated a good trend that child marriage in Pakistan has been reduced over time.

On the other hand, the study identified potential contributing factors of child marriage: (1) girls are more likely to marry early if they live in rural areas and are from poorer socio-economic groups; (2) child marriage is associated with lower education attainment and a lower likelihood of literacy; (3) there is a positive association between child marriage and labor force participation in Pakistan, child brides are encouraged to work due to poverty, they mostly work in informal sectors, with earnings in cash, unpaid work and low productivity work.
The study definitely gave us directions for how we should design rehabilitation programs and where our client's needs are.
